About Us

We are James & Keona Prokop. We own a 5 acre small-scale flower farm called The Duck Cottage. We met in 2020 and are now married with a son. We wanted to start a family in the country where we would spend time outdoors, grow food in our garden, raise animals, & slow our life down. We bought The Duck Cottage in 2024. It needed extensive renovations which are a constant work in progress.

Keona started putting in offers on fixer upper homes as soon as she turned 18 using money she earned from taming horses. She started her first business at 19 while in college for entrepreneurship. She has a passion for interior design & has been featured in Midwest Home magazine for the home James & Keona previously owned together before buying The Duck Cottage. Prior to that home, James & Keona also did their own renovations & sold another home together. The Duck Cottage has been their largest project by far.

Keona grew up with farm animals & horses & was taught home improvement, sewing, & gardening from her grandmother. Her passion for flowers is driven by the beauty, joy, & love they bring into people’s lives. 🌼

James has a love for animals & dreamed of getting a duck to name Ernie even before they moved to The Duck Cottage.
